I saw your message below.
Conmama, big hugs from me.
For starters my DH weighed in and said he felt sorry for what you and your DH are going thru.
Please forgive me for not responding sooner, but I've been so tired this week...emotionally drained, and I know you understand.
Many gentle hugs to you, conmama. I just posted over on the Parents of College Kids that it looks like I won't be a parent of a college kid next year for Justin. He got his grades and while they weren't horrible since he dropped the class he was failing he ended up with a D in intro to elementary ed (at a community college), which was supposed to be his major. He told us a couple nights ago that at this point it's just not worth going to school. And even though we kind of suspected he wasn't ready at this point - it was still hard to hear. Here he's 21 years old and has just barely enough hours to be a beginning sophomore. Even though the adderall helped him focus and pay more attention in class it takes more than that to succeed in college. You have to be willing to read the material, do the assignments, study for the tests, etc. And at this point he just doesn't have the desire to do that. He says he wants to get a full time job and move back out at some point. Of course he hasn't exactly been ripping through the applications this week. He works 20 hours a week at Lowe's and his first choice would be to get on full time there - we'll see. Hang in there. Having a summer job and going to summer school are two good things - the counselor is right in that the more time they keep busy the less time they have to just 'hang out'.
I'm so sorry, Pam. I know the dissappointment of what you are feeling as my son is the same way.
Conmama, first I want to congratulate you on something I feel I read between the lines.
Conmama, read this, it's very eye opening and hopeful.
Reading your posts are like therapy for me.
Oh good glad to be some comfort because I know so well how much I worried about it all too and there just wasn't anyone to talk to except my son's counselor and he was $80 bucks an hour!
Sorry for the radio silence.
