N (16, with a lot of energy) decided we should go Black Friday shopping together this year - first time for the two of us to brave the crowds together.

Fun! My 20dd and I went out at 6 AM, we're 10 minutes from Kohls, and I am not really a morning person. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be and even though we only went for ONE thing, I spent a lot of money and we got a ton of things. Unfortunately, it was about 50/50 - half of everything was for us and the other half were gifts! Anyway, it was some well spent time mother/daughter shopping. Today, dd18 and I are hitting a couple of stores and then getting our nails done. She was working all black friday and saturday so today's the first chance we've had to hang out a little.

My mom made all of our gowns growing up - she even made my wedding gown! Beautiful. I'm sure N will really cherish those memories in years to come and lucky for her that you're so talented on the sewing machine. I dream of being a seamstress. I can get by ok, but I'm not accomplished. Yeah.

I used to feel guilty that my kids have no (and I mean ZERO) "cookie baking mama" memories.

I am so happy you two had such a great time.I know when they get bigger and bigger the less of them you see. I miss my mom so much there is a special bond between moms and daughters(of course said daughters have to usually mature a lot lol) They get to the point theu ACTUALLY DO have some things in common.Go figure!!!

Sounds like you had a great day! I did not want to go to the 4am sales, but I do envy you the girl time you had with N. Although we just had a five day weekend - L and I only had one long (but not long enough) walk alone together.

I know that you savor that girl time!

I'm so envious also of anyone who can sew. I took Home Ec in HS, and even made a few pieces of clothing, but other than hemming and sewing on buttons, I'm totally lost in this arena! I *can* cook up a storm, though, so maybe it all evens out!
