DS heard from the first of the universities (other than acknowledgments) he applied to.

He is in with $$ offer and a guaranteed place in residence. All he has to do is pass with reasonable marks. Now, this was his fall back university but at least he has an offer! It also means that he has a good chance of getting acceptance to three others. He has till the end of May to decide

Good for him!

It seems like it must be a little bit of 'ahhhhh' at least for the moment

He changed his mind. He decided to go into engineering. This way he can do software and have his "iron ring" as well. Engineering here is considered a professional degree, like Law and Medacine. All universites offering the degree are audited and must meet the standards of the Prof. Association of Engineers. And only grads of approved university programs can call themselves engineers and take the exams to qualified for Professional Engineering designation.

This university is different. It is a large city university; many of the students are from in the city. It does not have many residence places.

This university is known to be very `pro active` in trying to get the higher mark kids to attend. He has till the end of June to reserve his dorm room, if he goes there.

Yea, I told him that when I started 'jumping up and down with glee`. Many kids would be thrilled just to get in. With the number of applications up this year and the number of places not increased that much, I am sure there will lots of kids (the kids with B averages and lower) disappointed.
