How terrifying! There is that moment of relief when they are talking to you as you know 'hes alive, hes alive' and then horror again when you see the cars.
So glad everyone is okay and they had their seatbelts on. DS2 wore his in his accident and, despite being my risk taker, is now the biggest advocate for seatbelts you can imagine! Makes such a bigger impression than mom's cautions
WOW Pam!! I'm so glad your DS is ok! Cars can be replaced - kids on the other hand....
How are YOU doing? I've gotten a couple of those phone calls over the years from my DSs, nobody has ever been seriously injured, but I was always a basket case for a few days anyway - and wanting to wrap them in their baby blankets and keep them home forever! Rose
Oh gosh Pam! I can only imagine how scary it must have been to get that phone call! Thank goodness both boys were wearing seat belts and are going to be fine.
We recently traded in my 7-seater vehicle for a small coupe (much better gas mileage!) with the intent it will be the vehicle C learns to drive on and will be 'hers' to drive when she gets her license in the fall. Not only does it have front air-bags, but side air-bags as well!
I feel for you. Glad to hear your son and his friend are ok. I still remember the day I got a call at work when my ex (H at the time) was in a wreck. They wouldn't tell me anything about it and my at the time 4yo was with him. It was nerve wrecking to wait for them to show at the E.R.
Whew, you've got to be relieved that Justin & his friend are okay. If they were going 60, Justin's friend must have reacted pretty quickly. I'm always worrying about my mom who's 89. I don't think she ever gets on the highway, but still...
Whoa not only do you need a hug but you hug your son good and hard and long ... he's probably really shaken up.
I've been in one semi-serious accident and I witnessed one very serious one (which happened right in front of me and was really a "there but for the grace of God to I" scenario). I remember how rattled I was afterwards. The adrenaline was racing through my body for days. It was very sobering. My H was involved in 3 accidents when he was younger and he had the same reaction. One had him hit his windshield and spend a night in hospital for observation -- needless to say he never forgot his seatbelt again.
Your son might need a little TLC for a few days. So glad he and his friend are alright and hopefully the other person pulls through as well.
One never knows when the phone rings what's on the other end. Thank God everyone is alive and well and that your DS's friend had teh quick reaction he did.
Hug your sons - both of them - I know I read this and immediately went into my sons' rooms and hugged them both.
