Gyn appt

DD15 asked me to schedule a GYN appt for her - she has not had her period since July, and I told her if it went 6 months we could schedule the appt. I know she's worried, because she would do anything to avoid that first gyn exam! Fortunately, my gyn is a woman and is very young (LOL at 47 every doc I go to seems very young to me!), so I think Leah will like her. I'm hoping I can schedule my (overdue) annual exam at the same time so it can be a bonding experience ; )

I think I'd be worried too, Sue. Hope all is well -- isn't L pretty athletically inclined? I've read numerous places that it is fairly common for athletic girls to experience this. Still, keep us posted!
And yes! Get that gyno appointment for yourself, too. I know how much fun these exams are, but so important ... and it will set a good example for L too, to keep up with this stuff.
After delivering my two babies, my OB/GYN said to me at my annual (when she noticed my discomfort at the 'put your feet in the stirrups') "oh, Julie ... you've had two babies! What's the big deal, now?"
I don't think I'll EVER get over that, you know? It's still a big deal! I hope L gets through it okay.
Best wishes,
Julie
I hope all is ok with your dd Sue. And good for you to make your own appointment too.
I don't have girls, but somehow I don't think it would've crossed my mind to use an annual pap smear as bonding time!! LOL

That made me think of how strange I felt once when I went for a prenatal checkup, and the OB/GYN came in wearing a tie with a playboy bunny logo on it. I must've been 34 at the time, and was simply stunned, and pretended that I did not see it. I'd been going to this doc for about 10 years and he was a married, Catholic, 50ish guy with six kids. All I could figure was that someone had dared him to wear that tie. With the preponderance of sexual harassment law suits in today's world, I'm sure he would never try that.
I had one more male GYN after we moved, and then when I turned about 45 I switched to a female doc--glad I did.
