DD and bf are coming here tonight to watch movies. I am on a mission to get halloween movies for them to watch. What are some good movies other than the obvious? We went to rent movies a few weeks ago and I swear this guy had seen every movie in the store!!! Kinda felt bad when we left with 4 movies - all of which he had seen!! Any ideas?
BTW - Happy Halloween!

DS and I just watched Needful Things, Lawnmower Man, and we have Edward Scissorhands waiting for us at the library, along with 12 Monkeys, The Others... I assume you mean the 'usual' Halloween horror movies and the Friday the 13th series and the Nightmare on Elm Street series. How about Carrie or other Stephen Kings, or The Birds or the original Psycho or other Hitchcocks, or even series like Child's Play, Alien, The Ring, The Grudge (sorry, we found that one funny), or old classics like Signs, Sixth Sense, Exorcist, The Omen, Beetlejuice, Nightmare before Christmas, Poltergeist, Amityville Horror, etc. Not sure the genre you wanted, but...hth.

I'm not a real big fan of super scary, slasher type movies so a couple years ago I rented some of those old black and white, classic horror movies -- The Birds, Frankenstein, etc. DD and DS both thought they were a hoot and a hollar (I can't believe that scared you, mom!) but they enjoyed watching them just the same. It was fun for them to see the changes in movie making technology since the dark ages when mom was a kid!

That reminded me - one of the funniest stories dh tells is when he was young (I'd guess around 10) and at his buddy's house and they were in the darkened basement watching The Birds on TV...and friend's dad let their parakeet loose down there...

Well, I have watched this movie about 5 times and I am still scared and it's so creepy. Maybe yours hasn't seen it yet? What Lies Beneath with Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford - very creepy, suspenseful and scary.
And some others: The Sixth Sense, The Pit & The Pendulum, old Dark Shadows reruns, the original Night of the Living Dead, original Friday the 13th, original Halloween, original Nightmare on Elm Street, Secret Window, Sleepy Hollow & Ninth Gate (can you tell I love Johhny Depp yet?), The Shining, The Ring, original Psycho, original Jaws, Clockwork Orange, The Birds, original Amityville Horror, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Fly, Willard, The Omen, Children of the Corn, From Dusk till Dawn (cult flick, I thought it was funny), Gothika, Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Tommyknockers, Thinner.
That's all I can come up with right now. I hope there is at least ONE he hasn't seen yet!
Ok, I tend to go overboard, but this poor guy sat through an entire day of the Bring it On movies when dd hurt her ankle and I pray I got atleast one movie that he hasn't seen!! Here's what I got:
The Wicker Man
Land of the Dead
An American Haunting
Pet Sematary
28 Days Later
The Amityville Horror
When A Stranger Calls
LOL he won't be here until after his football practice which means there is only time for 1 movie, but darn it, I hope it's one he hasn't seen already!!!!!! Sheesh.....
Thanks everyone for the good ideas....The guy at the store everyone has been going crazy for "the feast" - I've never heard of it....and of course they didn't have it. I had thought Pay Per View would have something...but all I saw was Final Destination 3 and yup, he had seen it.....grrrrrrrrr
Don't know how old they are, but the classics are amazing. The original Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula and then the greatest movie of all time, The Birds!!!!!!!!! Depending on how graphic you are allowing the Exorcist is a great one too. We watched movies Saturday night and that was one of them, my daughter is 19 and her b/f is 18.
Have a scary evening!!!!!

Was "The Birds" a horror flick?
As a youth, I wasn't paying attention.
Too busy drooling over Tippy Hedrin... :-)
Yes, for it's day, it would have been classified suspense/horror. Amazing movie, Alfred Hitchcock was a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, with all my frantic searching for a movie he hadn't seen, what are they watching? Um yeah, my tivo'd "Friday Night Lights" that he missed...too funny!!
