Anybody else going to see Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire today? I just Fandango'ed tickets for a 5:00pm show. Looks like it's gonna be good.

Nope; hoping for next weekend when we go to see my parents 300 miles away for Thanksgiving - they're in their 80s and never do anything, so we figured this was a good way to get them out but not to use up too much of their energy. Can't wait, though!

My 15 year old daughter has a "date" with her dad for the 10:35 show tonight. It is something they have always done together, and I think that is sweet. I know they really enjoy it being "their thing". My son is having friends over for his birthday tonight, so my 8 year old and I will be chaperoning!

I think I am one of 10 people in the world not planning to see it. I love to read, but haven't read any of the books either...maybe one day!

I DID! I DID! What was your favorite part? I kind of missed seeing the Dursleys in this one -- I get such a kick out of Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. Better not say too much, don't want to spoil it for anybody.

DH didn't get to see it with us last night, so we'll probable go again tomorrow!

I loved it. I broke my own rule to NOT go see a film on the first night out (lines!!!! no good seats!!!!) because my kids BEGGED me to not have them wait. So we braved the Friday night teeny bopper crowd at the multiplex and saw the film. It was really enjoyable but we didn't have the best of seats and the IMAX version was sold out so we are determined to go see it again this weekend and in IMAX!!!

Of course to diehard fants the film is never as good as the books but it was a fun film to watch.

There's an IMAX showing??? I'll have to check our local listings to see if there's one here.

I Fandango'ed the tix Friday morning for 5:10 show, arrived at the theatre at 4:15, and were behind maybe two dozen people in line, so we got very good seats! The theatre uses a kind of holding area for popular films, and when we got there they had three lines already cordoned off for the 5:10, 6:30 and 8:00pm shows. There were already people in all the lines!

DD thought that Ron (Rupert Grint), now that he's more grown up, is 'hot'. I thought he needed a haircut! The kid that played Cedric? Now, I thought HE was a cutie!

I guess they had to leave a lot of the book parts out to make the movie manageable. I thought they did a pretty good job and the 2.5 hours went very quickly!

I'm with your DD - Rupert is really getting cute!! 'course my heart will always be with Dan/Harry! Cedric was adorable too. Also Emma has grown so beautiful that when they describe Hermione as "plain" you almost think "who are they talking about?" LOL

We also didn't have a hard time getting good seats - we got there around 6:30 for a 7:20 show and stood behind 20-30 people in a special holding area. Teenyboppers galore - I was ("Ohmigod") thinking of your post earlier in the week about teen-talk - made my DD look positively sane in comparison!

I hope to see it on Thursday. We've just been too busy. Dd wanted to go to the midnight showing until she found out it was on a school night. She said the whole junior class went as a group, which I thought was pretty cool. I've LOVED all the books and all the movies.

I must admit I'm getting a little tired of all the hype about Harry. Even my teens are no longer interested. Of course, I did wind up taking my 9 y.o. ds to see it on Saturday after he begged. A little dark I would say, but I knew my ds could handle it. They always stay so true to the book, something you see rarely. For instance, I just rented Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. They changed a few things, not that many, but really they kind of seemed unnecessary changes to me. Oh, well. That's Hollywood.

As an aside, what position does your church take on Harry? Many of our friends will still not take their kids due to the "occult" nature of the film, but will allow Lord of the Rings. Our church does not take an official position on it.
