Has Anyone Read this Book?

Has anyone ever read "The Explosive Child" by Ross Greene? My son's therapist recommended it last night, and I'm wondering if anyone else has found it helpful. If so, do you think it would benefit an 18 year old teenager?

Thanks for the input!

I haven't read it but if the therapist recommended I would give it a try. I read a book once with something in the title about a "problem" teen. DD saw it and got real upset b/c she thought I thought she was a problem teen. So please, explain to your child that you are reading this in an attempt to become a better parent not b/c you think something is wrong with him - just that you could use a little help with this parenting stuff.

I read alot of parenting of teen books and found all of them had at least a few useful sections. Some had things that I totally disagreed with but I must admit that I can see where even those things might have worked for some kids. So just read the book with an open mind and take some time to think about the ideas presented and remember that just b/c an expert says this is the way to do it you are his mom and you know him better and make your own decisions.

Good Luck!!

It benefits the parent who is parenting the 18 year old. As the parent, you will learn different ways of approaching your child's behavior. Can it help with an 18 y/o? Yes. don't expect miracles, but it helps YOU.

I read it a few years back--but in relation to a 7-8 yr old boy, not an 18 yr old.
