Havent been on in a while..

I haven't been on in a while, I work at a school and was swamped for the past few weeks. Things have slowed and I've got about 3 days of work left, then I can enjoy the summer, yeah!
I had posted about a month ago about my concerns with DD-13, attitude, choice of friends, dropping grades. We grounded her from the computer and TV. We never let her hang out with the questionable friend with the ankle monitor (on probation for drugs). Things have really turned around. She brought her science grade up from a 65 to an 88, and scored an 85 on her final exam! She came to her senses about the criminal friend, and says she can't believe how crazy she acted about not being allowed to go to the girls house. She said thhat girl brought out the worst in her.
DD went to visit her great grandparents for a week, she missed us really bad, she says "you dont know what you have till its gone" she hasn't stopped hugging us, and she's been home for 4 days.
So, Im happy and proud right now. Whenever DD is being this pleasant we always say we hope it lasts.....now if I could just get her to clean her room! Ive told her she can't go anywhere, and noone comes over until she cleans it. But she is perfectly happy playing with the DD-11 months and hanging around with the family. She talks about needing to clean ger room, I think it just seems hopeless (its pretty amazing how quickly she can wipe out her room) Anyway, I digress........
We have gotten involved in a new church (we were between churches for about a year, after being at the same one her whole life). So, I think that is helping alot.

Wonderful! Maybe I should send my own dd away! LOL. Let us know how long this lasts...I would get as much mileage out of it as possible. Good for you that you did not cave in to her requests to hang out with the troublemaker. And in your dd's case, it looks like it did not necessarily make her more attractive (your forbiding her). So I guess in some cases it does work. In my own case, with my dd14 and her troublemaker best friend (although I have to say, so far she has stayed out of trouble with the law) it has not helped. DD14 is still just as attached to her as ever...H. was sent out of state for a couple of weeks to visit with relatives (and try to get some sense in to the girl, I think) and she comes back soon..dd can't wait. :(
It seems no matter what, H. is going to be hard to get out of dd's "system". And the more crap she goes through with other kids at school, the more she needs her. Its quite a "siombiotic" relationship.
