Oh you just have to laugh a little about this (ok, well maybe you aren't laughing right now)--he really is so clueless about what it takes to have a job.
HI Musiclover...I guess i am laughing a bit more this afternoon, rereading what i wrote.
As for accounting..... my college roommate is an accountant... easy is not how I would describe that major or that job.... though it usually doesn't involve blood, urine or feces. :-)
Here I think I was doing this wonderful thing by cutting back my hours so i could be there for the kids after school, and I'm reduced to doing "absolutely nothing". I guess it did sting a bit. Mothering can surely be a thankless job.
Hey, just imagine if you really DID do nothing all day, like we SAHMs?! (and by the way, it definitely does NOT seem like you are "taking it easy"). Once when I got on dd in high school, I forget the specifics, she shot back with, "well that is YOUR job - you have all day to do nothing!"
Now, it is hysterical - she is in her last class, working 20-30 hours a week, and to hear her talk , she works harder than anyone else in the family. When she is stressed (usually due to poor time management) she acts as if she is working longer and
One of my gf's & her dh grew up on farms near Edwardsville, in So. Illinois. They also said de-tasseling corn was about the worst job ever, except for castrating the pigs.
Both dh & I took our kids to "Take your daughter to work" day a couple times. I did make them help me strip the rooms, so they got to see the blood and spew, up close and personal.
