Our internet access has been taken away from us at work, therefore, I only get on the computer once in a blue moon--what, do my employers think I have TIME of an evening to check my email and chat w/ my buddies here? Good grief!
Ha--I hope all of you hardcore bosses understand the JOKING nature of my last statement.
Anyway, I will check my email account every couple of nights, and will occasionally peruse the parents of teens forum, but usually I don't have the time or energy to post. My kids monopolize the computer, so my time truly is limited at the computer at home too.
My kids have been sick---it's been EONS since both boys were sick at the same time....I'm home w/ my youngest getting ready for our 2nd trip to the dr.........he's got a severe sort throat. Tuesday's visit showed no strep, and he isn't running a fever (although he has had strep before w/ no fever)......but he's complaining WAYYYY down in his throat, where we can't see hurts as well, so off to the dr. again. 3rd day of missed school. Yikes.
All has been ok here....we had a minor incident over the weekend with Tanner, but nothing this ole mom couldn't handle. He basiclly missed curfew by 2 1/2 hrs........he went to the lake of the ozarks w/ a buddy of his that JUST got his license (much to my dismay, and objection---hubby felt it was alright) and they ended up not going to their restaurant until 9:00 pm---which as many of you know in a touristy area is not a quick process.........they didn't get their food until 10 (he was supposed to be home t 10:30, and it's 35 min away)..........he did keep in touch via cell, which I appreciated. Luckily, I was spending the evening at a friend's house for a 'girls night' which happily involved Cosmopolitans, so I probably was a tad more relaxed than I would have been under normal circumstances. ANYWAY, they finished dinner around 10:30, or 10:45, and dropped a friend off at home (that lives at the Lake) and a thunderstorm blew up, and they were caught in hail and heavy rain......so they stayed at the friends house til it passed. They left a little after midnight, and got home at 1. He kept in CLOSE contact, and what he said was legit BUT we had a long talk about personal responsibility and NOT GOING TO A RESTAURANT AT THE MOST POPULAR PLACE IN MID MISSOURI ON A BEAUTIFUL SAT EVENING(before the storm that is) and try to eat. He's gone to the lake his whole life and knows what is up, and how long eating can take.........so he won't be returning for an adventure that fun for a while.
But other than his normal usual attitude, he's been pretty good, and things have been uneventful. My hubby was in the hospital at the end of March---that was scary--and Tanner got his PERMIT finally----so we've been busy, busy busy, but now that John is better, despite being busy, things are going well.
I think about you guys alot and hope all is well with each of you. I'll try to do better about responding to you all more often..............I truly did get into the habit of using parents of teens at work, which was probably not wise. I need to get into the HABIT of checking in more often from home.
hugs to you all-----I can't wait to catch up with you all!
Shels

Shels!! I've been wondering where you've been! You've been missed around here :-)
You do sound like you have your hands full. Sorry about the sickies. Younger DS had similar symptoms a while back and was home from school for two full weeks! Dr. tested him and ran blood work for everything under the sun, trying to figure out what was wrong. Nothing was ever conclusive so we guess it was just a particularly nasty virus. I hope your DS feels better soon. I hope your DH is ok?
Well, in spite of his being 2.5 hours late for curfew, Tanner sounds like he has been VERY responsible lately! Keeping in contact with you when his plans go awry and I think it was very wise and responsible for he and his friend to stay off the road during the storm -- as relatively new and inexperienced drivers.
Life here is dull, dull, dull. Nothing much going on. The weather is truly bizarre -- we are now in full-fledged winter outside when the calendar says it's almost May. Go figure. I cooked Christmas dinner in shorts and now am bundled up just sitting in the house.
Still miss my dog -- can you believe that? It's been four months now and I still expect to see him flopped at the bottom of the stairs waiting for me. I didn't expect this to drag on this long, but maybe I should have. He was my best buddy for the longest time. Everywhere I went, he went to. Egad, I get all misty eyed just writing this.
Kids are doing fine. Now that the school year is nearly over, Wes is finally happy at middle school. THAT didn't take long, did it? That nasty coach who gave him a deficiency for not making his run time gave him an A- for PE that quarter and he's done great ever since. Makes his run every time, made a touchdown playing flag football yesterday, getting more fit every day. We found a sport he loves -- tennis -- and he plays 3x a week and always wants to play more. He was prancing around in his boxers last night so I gave his tush a good swat and I think it hurt my hand more than it hurt his butt -- he's that solid. And he's getting taller!!! He's just as tall as Chelsea now and a few weeks ago, the three of us were out and someone commented on my 'twins'! At 2.5 years older, DD was mortified! I thought it was quite funny, but she didn't find it funny at all.
Chelsea is doing fine all around. Still doing well in school, still enjoys it and looking forward to the end of the year. She's kicking herself for not getting involved in the school musical (it was extremely well done) and wants to get into a dance/theatre class over the summer to prepare herself for next year's audition. Signed up for an AP class for sophmore year which has me a little nervous when I consider her inclination for procrastination and dawdling, but ... it's her decision and she knows what she's in for. She'll be working at a women's shelter all day Saturday and then --- all her service hours are in for the year! Yippee!
Aside from the fact that we are tightening the belt to pay our gasoline bill (now at $3.39 a gallon) there is nothing else new around here!
Glad to see you back, hope all continues to get well and that you find time to check in again soon!
{{{hugs}}}
