Actually what I'm looking forward to the most is a planned trip for me and my son to go to the museum and see their newly installed dinosaur exhibit!!!!
This is too funny. I feel like I could have written a little bit from each one of these posts. Guitar Hero arrived at our house Xmas morning and my 14 yr old son has not been seen since!! Actually that's not true. We also gave him a trial membership to a gym here in town and he started on Thurs. All his friends got the same thing for xmas so they go together. At least he is being physically active and not playing video games all day and that is crucial for his overall health and well being (as well as ours). Still shopping. Lots of sales and of course returns. UGH. I'm pretty sick of it. Otherwise quiet. I am on vacation from work too and this is exactly what I was hoping for. Peace and Quiet. A good book or two. My DH is working all week and that is a good thing. He wants me all to himself when he is home. Gets very jealous when I go on the computer or go out with my daughter or friends and is not happy that I am home this week and he is at work. I have to say I LOVE my alone time. I consider this week between Xmas and New Year a gift to myself. Anyone have anything fun planned for New Years? This is the first year we have nothing to do/no where to go. I feel a little sorry for myself (not really) but I think that my dh and I will just go out to the movies and dinner. I'm sure neither one of my kids will want to spend any time with us. Tonight I hope to watch my NE Patriots make NFL history. It would make my vacation just a little sweeter. Happy New Year!!!
That's a good one, Daddioe! Of course all of our DHs are completely oblivious as to why they are bothering us so much. They can't understand why they're getting in our way! At least with this thread, I was able to point out to my DH that I am not alone!
Oh the joys of Christmas! We spend so much time and energy getting ready for the big day and then it is over in a wink.
I hear your pain ladies and I join in the chorus of "get me out of here!".
My house is a sea of boxes. DH has this habit of not getting rid of boxes just "in case". I know,I know, it is a wise precaution but I think after 4 years, you can get rid of the box for that toaster or blender!
So, the entrance way is box central today. Santa was very generous this year to 3 of the members of this family, perhaps too generous. DS is in his cave (aka his room). We got him a new desk top to add to the one he has (that is about to bite the dust.. hard drive crash is overdue). Now with two, he has everything set up in his room. Combined with the keyboard, the electric guitar, two computers... it looks like a electronics store ,except for the clothes on the floor and the dishes on his desk!. DS will emerge from his room only to eat or for driving lessons or when he runs out of clothes. I have taken to stationing myself between his door and the bathroom door door each morning so I can get a glimpse of him. We also got him a land phone for his room. Now he has no excuse when the phone rings. He can not say the he didn't hear the phone!
He did apply to university for next year this week. The deadline is early acceptances is Jan 8th here so all is good but old mom was still freaky out! What if the site went down! What if there is a mistake with his marks! After months of one-sided debates (I talked, he pretended to listen) and several vows of never going into the family trade and more than a few reassurances of "whatever he wants to do is OK with Mom & Dad, he talked to his big sister. I should have saved my breathe! He happily decided that the "family trade" isn't so bad after all and applied for engineering to four universities.

I hear you!
This thread is SO enlightening! ROFL...
So.... your DH's are driving you all nuts? Following you around like a puppy dog, getting in your face, not giving you a moments peace?
I'm taking copious notes here. So far I've just been trying to get caught up with my work, but I'll have to very careful.. :-)
