A Houseful of 'Sickies'!

Everyone is sick around here! I haven't felt well in so long I've forgotten what it feels like, DH has a terrible cold -- miserable and very congested -- so much so that I've been camped out on the couch downstairs because he's been snoring something fierce. DD seems to be the healthiest one of us all; just a little under the weather with some sniffles and a little run down. But DS is the worst! Poor kid missed all but one day of school last week and is back home again this week. I finally took him to the doctor yesterday. His strep test came back negative and the doctor now suspects he has mono and ordered blood work. When she found out I am carrying the Epstein Barr virus, she was pretty sure that's what's going on with him. Big sigh ...

And it's RAINING! Our first real rain -- it's a good thing, but downright depressing.

Just hoping for some 'get better' vibes ...

Sending some long-distance hugs your way (very long distance - I don't want your germs). Try to keep in mind that spring is coming soon and everyone will start to feel better. I hope DS doesn't have mono - that's a rough one. Oldest DD had it and her spleen became very enlarged. She was miserable and there wasn't really anything they could do for her. Youngest one caught it from her sister. she wasn't as sick but she still wasn't allowed to play softball and that alone made her miserable.

Hope everyone feels better soon!!

You've got them, and when you're done with those vibes, send them our way. DH and ds13 have had something since last week; I was doubled over with stomach issues and a 101 fever Sunday, and just put up with it yesterday; a bit better today. DS still has a bad headache; the school nurse called me Friday that his tonsils were 'huge' but he was only at 98.8, so they just squirted him with Chloraseptic and sent him on his way as he wanted to stay there...to fail an algebra test. He's still not good, and dh is still taking the decongestants. Gotta love this time of year.

{{{Julie}}} sending positive and healthy vibes your way! We've also been sick for about 2 months now - since early January. I had the flu full blown about 2.5 weeks ago and I've just started my second round with antibiotics because it caused me to have bronchitis (I'm athmatic so that happens often). Then H got it and he's just starting his first round of antibiotic because it went into his chest as well. dd16 has had about 5 colds this winter, fortunately nothing major and dd18 has a wicked cough that just won't go away for over a month! All that and my back has been OUT since Feb 3rd!!

I am hoping that the sun and relaxation next week will burn out all the sickness.

I really hope you're all on the mend and feeling better real soon.

"Being sick totally blows", as my 16dd is fond of saying!

Wow! Your houseful of sickies sounds way worse than mine! I hope you all feel better soon, too -- basking in the Caribbean sun should do wonders. Well, at least for your mental health anyway.

DS strep test AND mono test came back negative so I don't know what's going on with him except for the fact he is absolutely miserable and is now missing his 2nd consecutive week of school. The doctor ordered enough blood work that three vials of blood were drawn on Monday, so I guess there are still some test results we're waiting for. The doctor also made mention that 'false negatives' occur quite often in children, so if nothing conclusive comes of all these tests and he isn't better, she'll run the mono test again. Yikes.

So ... Bon Voyage and Happy Sailing to you! Have you packed that bikini yet? :-)

The thing that stinks about having mono (besides feeling like crap) is that antibiotics don't help you - you just have to ride it out. The only time they prescribe antibiotics is if there is a secondary infection. I feel so bad for your son - I hope he feels better soon.

ps: I'm not brave enough to wear a bikini anymore...I wouldn't want to scare the whales.
