How can a dress shrink?

LOLOL How can a dress look "OMG, Amazing, Mom!" one day, and look "horrible, OMG, I'm so fat" two weeks later???
And, why, when I called *my* mother about this today, she laughed (with minimal sympathy)?
This is one of the many "joys" of raising a teenage daughter! I remember feeling that way when I was a teen, so I am somewhat supportive. But, OTOH, I feel powerless. I can say "You look amazing in that dress" only so many times. She sighs, rolls her eyes, and tugs at imaginary poofiness in the dress.
To her credit, she was calmer a few minutes later, and even mustered enough calm and confidence to come into the living room to show her dad how she looked. His approval helped a little.
Tonight is the first of her friends' 16th birthday parties. The four girls (A,I,S, and K) are meeting at our house. We're the most central, and YAY I get to take photos. K's dad is renting a limo and taking them into Manhattan for a fancy dinner, then taking the limo back home. Assuming the dress stops looking horrible and poofy (lol), Leah will have a blast!
Sue

Laughing right here with you Sue! Once all her friends 'ooh' and 'aahh' and shriek 'OMG! you look so awesome' 'I LOVE your dress!' I think she'll feel fabulous in no time.
For what it's worth, When C complained that last years' wf dress was 'too poofy' I cut all the tulle out from the inside. It was a little too long after that, but at least it wasn't 'poofy' lolol.
What did Leah finally decide on for gifts? I hope she has a splendid time!

Be sure and put up those pictures!
