How old were you?

All of this talk today about our kids wanting to include their bfs or gfs in family celebrations made me wonder about how old we were when we met our significant others. We think that these teen romances aren't very important and will only last a few weeks or months, but is that necessarily so?

I was still 17 when I met my DH, and it's hard for me to fathom that at 16, my DD is almost the same age that I was then! (Of course, I was already in college, but that's another story.) We didn't get married until after college and graduate school, when we were in our mid-twenties, but we did find each other at a very early age!

Wow...I haven't thought about this in a while. DH and I met when we were both 28. (20+ years ago) Both working in the same town and one thing led to another. Make that, small town...

How old was I when I meet my lord and master..

I was 32,going on 33. It took about 8 months until I noticed him. We dated for 6 months, engaged for 5 months. I was 34 when we got married.

PS That was 21 years ago..

I guess it depends where you are from but 35 years ago, very few of many friends were even thinking of getting married. Except for two (2 g/fs at 19), all of my friends didn't even
think about the M word till after university, at 22. A few classmates were married at 24 but most were in their late 20s and more than a few in their 30s.

I was brought up not to even think marriage till late 20s. And I have brought up my kids the same way.

I was a 23 y/o new college grad when I met DH the week before his 21st bday.... so when S and C wanted to get married at 21 after being together for 4 years, it was kind of hard to pull the old "you're too young" card out of the hat! LOL

HS sweethearts being together forever isn't unusual around here - several of my coworkers married their hs sweethearts, as did my DH's brother (they celebrate their 30th anniversary this spring!)

I met my dh on my 27th birthday. I knew right away that he was the one I wanted and it took asking him out 7 times before he went out with me. And as they say....the rest is history. We got married when I was 32 yo and he was just turned 29yo. Yep, married a younger man!

My brother started dating SIL when she was in 8th grade and they were married

Here's one for ya! I am a little over 3 yrs older than my dd, but with the way our birthdays fall when he was a senior in high school, I was already out of college. I graduated from nursing school in June 76 and he graduated from hs in June of 77. Sure makes me sound old doesn't it. lol

Same here....17 in college. Married at 21 after I got my B.S., while DH was still working on his grad. degree in another city. DH Badger bussed it from Milwaukee to Madison for 2 years.(We stayed in Milwaukee cuz I could not find a med tech job in Madison in 1977. Some hospitals would not even let me fill out an application.) When DH found a job in Milwaukee 2 years later, we got our first car.

"And I am day dreamy-the type of person who can be thought of as rude when really they're just off in la-la land and dont even notice there is someone in the room to be rude to-LOL"

OMG...that sounds like me. But I feel like I'm always concentrating too intently rather than dreaming. My sister once gave me a mug that said "I'm not deaf, I'm just not listening"LOL.

I blame it on genes. My dad was like that, too. And so is our DS24 according to his gf.
