My daughter “C” is 16. We are a conventional family, married over 25 years. We have a younger daughter, age 13. We have always made it clear that drugs/alcohol

After her divorce, my neighbor got one on the top of her back that was of the Road runner and the coyote--I'm sure that's what she'll want to have when she's old.

hmmmmm, read your post, it's long, but when I've been freaked out I've written as much so don't feel bad.

My sense is you are overreacting to these new friendships and the possibility that she smokes pot.

I had a friend in high school who is uber-bright and was on the honour role. She used to smoke a joint frequently before doing her homework. She said it helped her to focus (it did the complete opposite to me). She's now a higher up in a government agency (we're FB friends). She was also a neat-freak about her bedroom.

I totally expect my DS to at least try pot (though outwardly my voice tells him to just say "no"). It's so prevalent, and you're right, even the *goody two-shoes* kids don't raise an eyebrow about it anymore.
