OMG. My mother used to make these ALL the time. In fact, she even had a little home-based business, selling these to people and even to

With Christmas coming up, I was talking to a good friend of mine last night about old family recipes passed down through the generations (I know..... you can just FEEL the testosterone in this conversation) and I thought it would be a great idea to organize a family cookbook and get all the best of the best recipes. No, they aren't the same as rugelach. I forget what the technical difference is (LOL). But it seems that rugelach are more prevalent in certain parts of the country, so I thought people might relate to that. The ones you describe sound more like what my mother used to make (schnecken), although the ingredients for the dough are a little different.
