I'm sure you didn't start this. For whatever reason your dd just had, as you said, a "chip" on her shoulder and it got out of control. My dd doesn't cheer but she is on a competitive dance team and I sometimes see girls who are usually very nice, friendly girls with awesome parents get petty and insulting for one reason or another. I think that despite how they behave there is likely some insecurity beneath it all.

Not sure what I'm missing here (since I'm a on again off again reader/poster) but I don't understand why you are embarassed for your dd's actions. You can only do so much, Sounds's to me like H's parent needs to act more like a parent than a politician. Did you even speak to your own dd, or are you believing H's mother? Maybe she is a little biased to her own dd's perspective?
Above all, remember there is always 3 sides to EVERY story. Support your dd, not blindly, but do support her. I suspect like post #2, she may be insecure and if her own mother doesn't get behind her who will?
Good luck!

dadfor6 makes some good points there. I know that you have talked about her freaking out before, but you should probably talk to her and see what has really happened (in her view) then combine the 2 and get the real story. I haven't kept up with the coach problem, but is there any chance of getting the real story from her?
