Well I don't know if this will work since you cell phone went through the wash and dryer, but I heard a tip (from a knowledgable teen,no less!).

DD's new rule - never leave them in your pocket when you go to the bathroom - they don't enjoy swimming in the toilet any more than you would.

BTDT - If your phone ever gets wet - DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON - take the battery and the sim card out and let them completely dry (the rice sounds like a good idea).
