School starts here on the 20th, which is a Friday. I'll never understand that! I know my son is going to need a calculator because his disappeared last school year. Other than that, probably just lots of pens and spiral notebooks (my kids are both going into 11th grade). I just wrote a check for $400 this morning for registration and bus fees - for a public school. Ugh. At least it's a pretty good school!

DS17 is going to college; moves in the 18th, starts the 23rd.
We're past lists, too. I just gave the kids money and they bought what they could afford with it.
First day for my kids is September 7 (state legislations mandates that school can't start until after Labor Day).
The two high schoolers don't have lists, so we've just picked up notebooks, folders, and graph paper.
My second grader has a list as long as your arm. The most unusual thing is double-sided tape (in the yellow and black plaid box).
elizabeth,
dont understand that either first day of school being on a friday??? ok. sounds like they need to learn how to read a calender a little bit better.
