I will likely feel better about this after I vent so I'm just going to try and get it out of my system.

My parents and mil are down for the weekend for #2's confirmation.

I guess you're lucky that she doesn't live close by.

My mom used to be like that, and it annoyed the heck out of me (and she was 300 miles away) - loved to get dh going about politics or whatever. Now that she's gone, I miss even that...

Oh my. I'm pouring sympathy over your head. It's very thick, like honey, and I hope it drowns out the noise. I was just, um, complaining to DH about my ILs' upcoming visit. Dreading it to the point where I have to take Benadryl to sleep. My issues are different, but I can totally relate!

Perhaps she is just lonely. It's very hard for many women when their kids grow up and move away. Suddenly, their "reason to be" is gone. They are on the sideline, no longer really mattering to anyone. If your MIL has no daughters, well, double that feeling of being on the sideline. She may not be handling it in the best way but we are after all human. Don't worry. She will be gone soon.

If I don't respond immediately she starts talking to the cats.

My Mom is a chronic non-stop babbler, so I know how that can make you crazy.

I think this may be correct.
