You posted a couple of weeks ago that your DD was struggling with anemia, and I was wondering how she's doing. She's had such a crappy year, health-wise, poor kid!

Hope she's feeling better. Keep us posted!

Thanks for asking Sue! My computer has been fighting me for the last week and I finally broke down and totally formatted it so I've been MIA....

She went back for another HGB test the beginning of this month - the 5th I think. And her hemoglobin had risen back up to 11.7 - they want her over 12, but they seemed thrilled with that jump (it had been 10.2 less than a week prior) and don't want to test her again for 3 months.

So for the moment she's fine - but ha over the weekend, my poor ds11's ear drums ruptured!! Poor thing is deaf as a door knob - I'm not sure what I'm going to do with HIM now!!

Good news on your dd, but, omg...your ds! What happened that they ruptured? And I'm guessing they *will* heal eventually? Good grief, if it's not one thing, it's another.

Poor ds is stuck w/ my ears. I had to have tubes something like 3 times in 3 years when I was a kid. A couple of years ago, my left ear drum ruptured and it wouldn't heal, I had to have it surgically repaired. I'm something like 85% deaf in that ear - I was supposed to have another surgery but haha I hate surgery....

DS had an awful babyhood/toddlerhood w/ his ears. Starting at 6 mths he started a vicious cycle of asthma/ear infections almost always in his left ear. He had a crazy amount of ear infections between 6mths and 2 years - like 20-25 if I remember. No matter how much of a fit I threw they wouldn't give him tubes. They kept putting him on preventative antibiotics. I finally complained to the right person and they gave him tubes after a hearing test showed he was like 70% deaf in the left ear. He never had another asthma attack. He had one more ear infection/rupture about 3 years ago when he got strep throat.

Friday night he had gone roller skating with his cousins - he came home around 11 bawling that his left ear hurt. I took his temp (no temp), gave him some advil and he went to sleep. He woke up the next morning with 102 temp and both ears draining fluid. Poor thing.... His temp was gone yesterday, but it's back up to 100 today. I'm glad I kept him home! I only did because of the deafness - we have to speak extra-ordinarily loud for him to hear us and his is tv is like OMG haha... he doesn't listen to loud music (can't stand it in fact) and never uses headphones....
