Stay in school or you're grounded.

That's the message a growing number of states are trying to send to teenage drivers this year in an attempt to reduce the number of dropouts, despite criticism that the approach isn't effective.

Interesting!

Do lawmakers REALLY want to do something to keep kids in school? Maybe start looking at why kids drop out to begin with - and starting to look at the high school level is way too late - plenty of kids have bad attitudes about school long before then, and it can have a heck of a lot more to do with the experiences they have in school, sometimes at the hands of teachers, than it does with something like a driver's license!

I agree whole heartedly with bunnierose's post. I know here in Texas, when you get your permit and license you do need a certification from the school saying you are enrolled and attending school or you can't be issued the permit or license, but I'm not sure what, if anything they have in place if you drop out.
