Regulars, newbies and lurkers - take a minute to tell us a bit about yourself and your teens and answer the question - when does school start back up for you?

I'm Julie, married nearly 18 years. Chelsea will be 16 in late October and will be a hs junior. Wes is 13 and will be in 8th grade. As of about 3 weeks ago, we became residents of Northern Colorado (from SoCal) so that means both kids will be starting at brand new schools on August 21.

Hey Julie - I was wondering where you've been! Are you getting all settled in?

Hey thanks Pam! Yep, we are settling in. It's a slow process because it was a pretty major move and it hasn't been without a few hiccups, (like discovering that the washer, dryer and refrigerator we hauled all the way from California won't work, fit or just plain look bad in our new home, which resulted in having to research and shopp for new ones -- while the laundry piled up and I was working out of a 2nd fridge in the garage) and I'm trying to do everything at once ... unpack, get organized, keep house, get familiar with our new surroundings, find an eye doctor poste haste because BOTH kids were on their last pair of contacts when we arrived (and of course their prescriptions had expired), try and schedule an ortho for Wes to fix a broken wire and loose bracket, get all the paperwork for school registration ... PLUS try to keep the kids busy and make an attempt to get them involved and stay active so they won't be/get bored and sit around saying "I'd wish we never left California!" It's enough to make my head spin. So, I took a few days off the read the new HP book cover-to-cover.

And ... the satellite communications we have now for iNet is rather sketchy and I've lost a few iVillage posts to satellite communication purgatory, so gave up for a while.

Ironically, it's W who seems the most settled and happy! You may remember that he was the one who was most apprehensive about this adventure, while C, who was most excited, seem a bit at odds and unsure. Go figure.

Anyway! I should be around a little more now and will hopefully be able to pop into a chat real soon.
