I just joined tonight. :) I am looking for a place to help me through the teen years! I have a StepDD who is 14, DD who is 13, StepDS that is close to 11 and DD that is 10....I don't typically call my step kids - step, because I am their only mom. Anyway, we are in Florida and have been a blended family for 2 1/2 years.

School starts August 20th...oh...and I am teacher.

I live in central Illinois, 'south of 80' as we say here(we have a bit of a complex about Chicago)

Been married for 25 years and have three sons: Colin is 22 and will be starting his third year of college; he is a part timer; Trevor is 19 and entering his sophomore year of college-he has opted to do community college this year and live in an apartment, apparently with a ferret(human roommate too); Blake is 15, beginning his sophomore year and taking drivers ed right now!

All begin the week of Aug 20th

Hi all; I'm Lori from IN and have been married to DH for 21 years. We both work in education, DH is in the business office of a small private engineering college and I teach learning disabled elementary schoolers, K-5. We have a DS18 who will be a college freshman at the University of Arkansas (yep, it's 530 miles from home), and a DD15 who will start her sophomore year in a couple weeks. Big changes are in store for the whole family this fall with DS leaving for college on August 11. He has a weeklong freshman orientation program that next week before his classes start on Aug 20. DD goes back to school on August 15, and although she is pretty underwhelmed by it she is a little excited about a couple of her classes. She thinks she will enjoy being the only child still in the nest, but deep down I think she'll miss her big brother too.

Hello, I am Kate and I am from southern California. I have been married for 27 years(yikes I am old) and we have 5 amazing children. I am a faculty member and do research at a local university, a job that I adore.

My oldest is Gavin who is 23 and currently working on getting his PhD/MD in neuroscience at Johns Hopkins.
Jacob will be 19 this November and will be a sophomore at the Naval Academy. Despite how hard it can be at times, he loves it there and could not imagine being anywhere else. Brooklyn will be 16 this October and will be a junior in high school. This is a tough year for her and she is really stressed out about where to go to college. In a family of science she is the only one that really likes english and writing, so she feels a little left out.
Everett is 14 and will be a freshman next year. I am hoping that high school will make him less lazy. He is very intelligent and can understand most concepts without having to do much extra work, so he finds homework tedious and a waste of time.
And last but not least, is Sienna who is 11 and will be in 6th grade this fall. She is very excited about no longer being in elementary school and growing up...I just hope she doesn't grow up too fast.

Its a pleasure to meet you all,
Kate
