Regulars, newbies and lurkers - take a minute to tell us a bit about yourself and your teens and answer the question - when does school start back up for you?

i'm Nicole. I have two teenaged sisters 15 and 13. my dad works out of town and my mom works 12 hours a day and it not around the other 12. so i decided i didn't want them to have to raise themselves like i had too. Not sure if it's working but i try.

Your daughter will be going to Columbia, my daughter goes to Columbia. Small world.

Anyways, My name is Sienna and I am older. I am married to my husband Dean and we have 3 children. Also, we are from Colorado. Avery(20) is a junior at Columbia University. Maren(17) will be joining Avery in NYC, but will be a freshman at NYU this fall. It is a little sad to 2 out of the house, but they are very close and will be able to help each other, which makes me feel a lot better. Last, but not least is Liam(16) who will be a junior in high school. Like, his sisters he will most likely leave home and move the the east coast for school. Hmm...I might have to move back to the east coast.

I'll be a HS junior this fall. so almost 17, but i grew up fast. i had parents who literally let me do w/e i wanted so i had to be mature enough to set my own boundaries, and i always had little sisters to look after.
i don't mind though it's better than them running wild., don't get me wrong they're good kids but they should still get to be kids. the youngest has some anger problems that i think should be looked into( severe temper tantrums, breaking things, swearing, hitting). but my mom thinks it's nothing because she's never around and the sisters don't listen to her when she is because she's never given them any rules or structure. I'd like to get her into to therapy but there's only so much i can do, they're not actually my kids. they listen me. I've taken charge of the same sister's IPP at school because my mom wasn't taking it seriously. she'd sign it and then shoo my sister away. then i teachers would get mad at my sister for that.

(sorry for the rant)

I live in Southern Maine - close to New Hampshire and recently graduated from college. I have 3 boys Ted 17, Luke 14 and JJ 12 - all within months of their next birthdays. I have been married over 18 years and I am currently looking for work - the job I would like to do is life skill and career readiness with 16 - 25 year olds whose journey has been anything but a straight line. School does not start here until the Tuesday after labor day.
