Today's re-cap....
Item 1
This evening DD is begging to go to the Cayman Islands for a school trip with 50 other students this next summer.
They will learn marine biology and scuba diving... all for a *cough* reasonable cost that she claims she is prepared to pay most of it. uhhh..not likely....

Item 2
This evening DD wants permission to go to a party at a boy friend's (not boyfriend) house where she announced the parents will not be home. They are out of town. She expects to be rewarded for this bold, mature and brazen display of openness by being allowed to go. She has made it clear that to be refused this request after such a responsible gesture would clearly be punishment for open communication, and as parents, we should not set such a bad example. uhhh.. not likely....

ROFL... It's never a dull moment..
I seriously don't know what I'm going to do with my time when this one finally leaves the nest. Frankly, it scares the livin beegeebers out of me. I will need some empty nest therapy and antidepressants.....

OMG.. Rose you always crack me up...
On the plus side, your concern seemed to go WAAAY over her head.
That's a good thing.
If they were up to something, I'm sure her responses would have been much different.

One of DD's favorite responses: "Just WHAT do you think we're going to DO, anyway??"
As she bares those baby blues at me....
Yeah.. Right..

DD#1, age 14, freshman this year. At the beginning of the school year, she was so excited to tell me that the Art club is planning a trip to New York next spring to see some museums. It's not gonna cost much, about $500 each. I told her that wasn't going to happen, me sending my hormonal teen daughter about 800 miles away with a bunch of teen girls and boys and who knows what kind of chaparones to one of the biggest cities in the country. No way. She periodically continued to bring it up until I finally calmly explained to her all the things that concerned me about it. So far I haven't heard about it since. But I did promise her I'd look into some museums closer to home that we could visit together as a family.

My senior trip 22.5 years ago we went to Six Flags over Atlanta, that was a 4 hour bus trip way back then, and there were no overnight stays. I remember even back then thinking we could have gone someplace a lot closer to home and had just as much fun. My parents let me go, probably because I didn't ask to do a lot of things, and didn't get to do a lot of things. I don't think the amount of things I did/didn't get to do as a kid really factors in to how I am today. There's a lot of other things more strongly influencing how I am now than those activities. KWIM?

Sallie
