the baby, (21 months now) pulled one of the richard scarry story books off the shelf the other day, and has been having dh and i to read it to her.

who remembers the story of the little red hen? and as i read it, seems like some of us got pigs, cats, and ducks for kids. "not i" when it's time to do all the kinds of work. "i will" repeatedly when it's time to reap the benefits of that hard work.

thankfully, mine aren't "not i" all of the time. just about 40%, haha. they gotta play sometime.

when the big girls make a mess, we've got to remind them to clean it up often. let the baby spill something, and she's toddling off to get something to clean it up, without being told. boy do i praise her for that. "peas", "dank u", "wekum" frequently are heard from her. the older ones did it too, when they were little, and then it was not as often.

ok, i'll stop rambling now.

sallie

This was just so sweet to read (and hear). My girls loved the Richard Scarry books - so did I!
