Mess!

I am not, by a long shot, a neat freak, but my DD's mess is taking over our apartment! Her bedroom is unbelievable - stuff on her desk, on her bed, on her chair, and in piles on her floor. The computer is in the living room, so there are piles of school work on both sides. I try to move some of the living room stuff into her room, but I"m afraid it will get lost. She's so frazzled with school work this week (and we're away the next two weekends) that I know I can't come down on her to pick up her room (guess what we're doing over the winter break!) I don't want to start nagging about everything, but I would like a few flat surfaces that aren't covered with junk.

To be fair, it's not just her junk - hers is just the most obvious. I guess I need to find a general strategy to help all of us be neater. We're planning to move in Jan/Feb, and I'd love to start the new house out with new habits!

That's one of the great side benefits of moving ... you can sort, weed and toss out stuff then start fresh and organized in a new place!

I'm not a neat-freak either, in fact, I lean much more towards the slob end of the spectrum!

Wow, I'm a FlyLady fan too! It's a great approach, even though I have to admit I don't follow it very closely. But what little I have adopted has been extremely useful.

I tried to post here earlier today, but my computer crashed & I lost my post. I wanted to say that my DD is also extremely messy. I was upset with her the other day because her bathroom is always so messy that I can't even get in to clean it. She has so much STUFF all over every surface, including the floor. I just walk in to clean it, look at the mess, and turn and walk back out again. I wish I could find a way to hold her responsible for it, but I'm tired of nagging her about everything.

I love the 15 min "stash and dash" (I've forgotten what she calls it, but that's what I call it!

Even though I don't follow FlyLady religiously, I do still get all of the daily emails. And even if I don't read those, at least they are a reminder to me....and they keep me somewhat motivated. I wish I had followed her "cruising through the holidays" this year, because I am so far behind!!

With 3 boys I've learned to curtail my prior habit of being a "neat freak"...lol
