Missing Cat FOUND! Woo Hoo!

Hi all! Thanks for all your thoughts and good wishes. We got our cat back. He was trapped by the animal shelter for bothering the neighbors pigeons..............how embarassing! But all is well----I bailed him out, he has a vet appt this afternoon, and we are good to go.

I added this to my previous thread, but thought I'd put an update note out as well.

I'm worried about fleas now---he's not aggressive or unhappy, jus the opposite. Very loving and seems thrilled to be here----going from room to room. But I couldn't get him on his back to check his belly for fleas. EWWWW--one of my nightmares.

Again, thanks to all!

I know I'm just a newbie here but I just wanted to say "YEAH!!" to Joe being home safe and sound!! I'd go crazy if one of my dogs disappeared on me!

Thanks. I wasn't too frantic until the last 5 or 6 days. We've seen him in our backyard so we knew he was ok, but we just couldn't catch him. But we've been seeing him less and less and have had a trap out and couldn't catch him. I've been a mess---Not to say I wasn't upset at his being gone originally, but since we could see him, I wasn't as upset as I would have been if he just disappeared and we couldn't tell anything about him.

Thanks for the kind words, though. I am certainly relieved.

What great news! He was mostly likely bothering the pigeons because he was HUNGRY! I'll bet you gave him his very own can of tuna, didn't you!

I can't imagine why anyone would raise pigeons ... flying rats, IMO. :)

Throw him a big ole party tonight complete with tuna and flea drops. I use those drops that you apply once every three months or so on all my animals and they don't get fleas - not even the outdoor cat and dog.

Actually, I'm going to wait on the soft yummy food. Every time he takes a bite of his hard pellets, his tummy rumbles, and cats have a tendencey to be a little more pukey than dogs are, so I'm going to let his system settle down before giving him stuff he'll snarf down. It'll probably come right back up-----besides we go to the vet this afternoon, and he'll get riled up there----so maybe tomorrow or this weekend we'll give him his soft food.

YAYYYYY--I'm so relieved he's home.

That's great Shels! I know how much a part of the family a pet is.

That's great Shels, my favorite kind of lost cat news! Just put some Advantage on him for the fleas -- after a couple of weeks outside, hanging out near pigeons, he probably has fleas.

I had to laugh about the "puke" discussion in the other thread. I don't do puke either, that's always been DH's job (and with 4 perpetually hungry cats, there is a lot of puke). I'm still stuck with the litter box, though.

what is it w/ cats? They seem to have far more regurgitation (sp?) issues than other pets.......or people.................

We'll go to the vet at 3:45 to check him out. He's SO sleepy and SO thirsty----he'll be all fired up to be going out in that box again. Oh well---it is only for his own well being.....besides the fact he wasn't up to date on his rabies shot........I know bad pet mom, but he's NEVER supposed to be out, so we let it go.......it is such a mess getting the cat to the vet!! So I had to pay the animal shelter the $15 to get the rabies shot, then take him to a vet to administer the shot. Then they notify the shelter that I've followed thru, and they won't come after me!! So it will all work out in the long run......

Thanks so much for the support the past couple of days. My co-workers and family were a little tired of me! I appreciate being able to laugh and vent!

Glad the cat is back safe & sound. I wonder what it is about some animals that they love to wonder. Our dog is terrible when he gets away from us. He runs so fast we must chase him with the car to keep up. He lets you come about 2 ft from him & then takes off again. He has this huge grin on his face while he is running but will actually snap if you try to grab him. We have learned to throw a rope around his neck to grab him. Once the rope is there, he stops running & is happy to jump back into the car. Ahhhhh.

Okay, this is a bit disgusting, but that cat regurgitation thing?

Our last cat was a vicious hunter. He'd drag things larger than himself into the house: rabbits, squirrels, moles ... and torture them unmercifully. How he managed to get them up over the fence and into the house, I'll never know. Of course, the tiny, helpless critters were victims as well. Sometimes I was home and could rescue the poor creature, but often I was not and so cleaned up many a kitty murder scene in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom.

One morning I heard that distinctive 'cat hacking SOMETHING up' sound and was horrified to discover little mouse PARTS on the stairs ... a tiny little ear, a wirey little tail ... yuk.

Sadly, because I did love that cat (like your Joe, he was a completely different cat indoors) he met up with something even more vicious than himself (an automobile) and I found him in the front yard last summer. He was too badly hurt to jump the fence one last time.

I'm very happy your Joe is home!
