My ds, my first born, turns 17 today. We are probably going to take him out to dinner to celebrate. His big present is a video Ipod. We tried to have the one we got him last year fixed, which he broke, but it's cheaper to buy him a new improved version. ;)

I'm so proud of this kid - he's a good kid, after all. He's been working at the pumpkin patch with a group of his friends so he's having a good time and making money too. He's saving for some expensive gadget we won't get him. LOL. On the 24th we have an appointment for him to take his driving test!

I'm a little sad, too. Just found out through outside testing that ds really does have alot of things going on which make it difficult for him to learn in the traditional school setting. So after all these years, it hasn't been laziness but a genuine inabibility to do what is asked. :( He's a kinesthetic and visual learner, and has problems in virtually every other area - no defined LD, but "intra clusters" whatever that means. Now the fight with the school begins to get him the help he needs, and the education he deserves.

And as far as the band driving to Santa Cruz, that is now a moot point. The drummer has been sent away by his parents to a type of "boot camp" for troubled teens. DS tried talking to M's mom the other night when the friends came by to say good-bye. She asked him, "Why are you the only one who is not f***** up" and she actually used these words. DS said he only told her about the time he and his dad went to a concert with bil and the drunk and stoned friend that bil brought along - he was so turned off to that. That may be part of it, but I'd like to think we had a little something to do with it, too. I'm pretty sure he knows that too, but in his typical fashion didn't want M's mom to "feel like a bad mom."

Happy birthday to your son! I'm glad he is one of the "good" kids and is making you proud. I think that is something that all of us parents hope for!

Happy birthday to your DS! I hope he had a really happy day today. I'm sorry his gig in Santa Cruz fell through; it probably would have been a great, fun experience for him. What happened that possessed the drummers' mom to send him to boot camp? I do hope the school will come through for you!

You have an October baby too! DD will be 15 on the 26th -- 15 going on 40, it seems sometimes.

YES - she was able to join us! Man, is she loud. Hockey fans are loud people to begin with and they love the slamming and fighting stuff, but even the regulars were turning thier heads to see who the big mouth was in section 104, row f...(our group). BFF was the loudest!! LOL~

LOL! That is too funny! Must be she just lets it all out when she gets away from home, huh? I'm glad you had a good time and that she was able to join you.
