Kelly, our HS only has a senior prom and DD was talking about it a few weeks ago when I asked her why she and a friend were looking at prom dresses online, if there was something I needed to know (and plan for). She said that its custom at their school that any junior girls asked and attending the senior prom wear short dresses and the senior girls are the ones that wear the long dresses. I thought that was very interesting.

Maybe your son is just being a guy in not getting too excited about prom? None of my three sons or my son in law *really* wanted to go to pron, the went to make the girls in their lives happy. Lol

This makes me feel great about DD's choice of prom dress. She got really into" Downton Abbey" and ordered a replica of a dress from that era online. I'm pretty darn sure no one else will wear anything like it.

Dd#1's prom dress is a tea length 1950s replica.

I'm sure it's a much bigger deal for the girls since they love the dressing up part of it--I don't know that many young boys who love being dressed up.

...and in ds's case, he went stag to senior prom, the guys didn't all get tuxes (dark suits and ties were fine; I saw no need in renting one since he went stag!), they went out for fun ahead of time for fast food, no limos...and didn't go to the after-party. But he had a blast.
