I'd say check some of my posts but I post so much Im not sure you would find the ones related to this-LOL
My oldest dropped out of college mid first semester. Tried working full time. We gave him a deadline to move out on his own-we were gentle about it IMO. Didnt charge him rent-wanted him to save everything for the move, made sure he had new contacts and dental check up. Helped with bed and furniture. Not having health insurance is the truly terrifying part of all this if you ask me!
He came around. GF was a big factor. He would have lived on ramen wearing the same set of clothing but here standards are a bit higher ;)
For him, working AND doing school is the combo that works but it took some mis steps to get there. We worry sometimes he is taking on too much but he thrives on that-seems to keep him focused when he is busy.
For us, after he was on his own and working, we said "you do know if you ever want to go back to school we will pay"
The GF said "SEE-that's not what YOU told me!"
LOL
A good friend whose DH had been 'that teen' gave me a heads up on this; her DH wanted to go back before they could pull it off financially and she wished her in laws had made that offer
Support him if he chooses to do something other than school but always GENTLY make it known you will be there if he changes his mind(assuming thats doable for you and I gather there has to be a cut off age so they arent hitting us up at the retirement home
I haven't been there yet, but I could see it happening. Kelsie doesn't have a clue what she wants to do with her life. She will be going to a community college next year and work on some of the basics
