My dd#1 started working last year to start a winter color guard squad at her school.

Good for her. I was just thinking how refreshing it is to see a post like yours. Used to be, these kinds, and posts about what to do after prom, what to do about a bad class, coach, or boss, etc, were the kinds of posts POT's was all about. Now, it's all about: my 13yo spits in my eye, & my 15yo is having sex in my living room, and I don't know what to do about it.

She was really funny this morning after practice, part of her solo is a jump she didn't quite pull off well, and she landed on her butt.

Wow! That is terrific! It is that type of leadership that colleges really are looking for as well!

Congrats to her!! It makes so much of a difference when you are with a group that really wants to be there and doing the things and to excell at it!

I love reading brags like this! I think they're very encouraging to other parents of teens. Congrats to your daughter!

Congrats to your dd! Sounds like she's quite a determined, motivated young lady! My boys were 'bandos' - Jason did marching band all 4 years and Justin 2. I know those color guard members worked really hard! Are there any boys on the color guard squad at your school? There was one one or two years at our school and at competitions I'd notice the occasional boy on the color guard squad but it did seem to be primarily a 'girl thing'.
