Hi everyone,

About a week ago I posted "15 year old dd hates family". I talked about how my15 year old daughter wont bring her friends or boyfriend to our house. She will only go to their houses.

When I was growing up I had a BFF who's parents had a rule that we had to take turns going to each other's homes.

I can't help but wonder if your husbands yelling is worse than you think-at least to your daughter. You say it is only when it's family yet she doesn't have friends over so when did she have friends over and see that he didn't yell? Or perhaps he has yelled in front of her friends and you barely noticed because well, it has become normal

My DH has done this on and off. I mean everything sets him off and it's F this and F that. I have also had him insult people while in the car with the window down(move your fat a......) He insists they can't hear them but I am mortified and I know the boys have been.

Honestly, typing this I am wondering why I put up with it. I guess because it isn't all the time but when something is making him feel 'little'. Mostly I think I have become immune.

We have offered to take our daughter to concerts with friends and she says "no." Yet she has gone with other friends and their parents. And she knows we won't horn in on the fun during the day....

It's a stage--ugh.

All I can tell you is that for the last 2 years of HS, ds never brought friends to our house. We offered; he chose not to (he didn't have a gf much of that time). It felt very odd compared to all the younger years, but it was what he wanted. Now that he's in college he has brought his gf home a few times, but it's still usually just him when he comes home. I don't feel like I can force him to do anything different. I do feel what you're saying but sorry, have no suggestions. (We didn't yell or anything; he was just in that 'we're weird parents' stage)
