It's me! The REAL jules!

You can imagine my surprise this morning when I checked the board to find I'd been posting some pretty weird stuff here on a weekend I was out of town, nowhere near a computer and certainly nowhere near a Pizza Hut! I imagine menopause is in the works for me sometime in the future, but it hasn't been confirmed anytime recently.

I'm just a little creeped out by the other 'jules', and her much-too-similar-to-mine username, so thought it was time to change to something a little more anonymous.

How do you like it? My favorite flower, but mine always turn pink. I tried the rusty nails in the soil trick over the summer so maybe I'll have some blue blossoms here in a couple more months.

Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Julie

Hey Jules,

Welcome back. I love your new name! Even though we've had alot of rain lately, I'm encouraged by the hints of warm weather we've had here and there...a promise of things to come. We've had an unusually wet March here so far. Anyway, I can't wait for spring and your new name reminded me of all the planting I am looking forward to doing soon....and of my beautiful tulips and daylilies which are starting to emerge again.

Isn't it great? We've had very little rain down here, and though it never really felt like winter, it totally feels like spring. I have a lot of work ahead of me in my yard!

I have high hopes for my hydrangea this year. It was quite large, almost too large for the space it's in, when DH decided it was in his way when he was taking down the Christmas lights and cut it down to the ground. I was absolutely horrified, and he is pretty lucky that it is coming back, otherwise I'd have to strangle him. Some of the blossoms were pale lavender last year near the end of the season and I'm really hoping for blue ones this year!

Good luck with your bulbs. I planted some Canna bulbs a month or so ago and was so happy to see their tips sprouting up last week. When I checked them this morning, I was dismayed to see that some little critter had nibbled them all down to soil level. I have to figure out some way to keep them protected.

I pulled out some unfortunate looking rose bushes in January and replaced them with new, bare root ones, and cut back the ones I didn't pull out. It was a quite a job and I about killed myself doing it -- it took me three whole days. Anyway, all the bushes are all leafing out quite nicely and I am very happy about that! My thumbs have only the slightest greenish tint. How about yours?

Thanks, Pam! I confess, my heart flopped down into my belly when I thought someone had actually signed in as me with my password, and of course, wondered what else, if anything, had been accessed on my PC! It wasn't until I read further into the thread that I noticed the difference in the user name. Is this, or this person, something I should be concerned about? What is TOS? I don't think I've ever heard that before.

Anyway, thanks again ... and I did have a really fun weekend! DD is soooo into this Model UN program. I think it's very cool that she enjoys it, but I was rather unnerved to see that there were college students, not just high school students, participating in the conference. It didn't bother DD though; she wasn't at all intimidated by them. She said she enjoyed having them there because they were more focused on the issues, writing resolutions, etc., than some of the hs students and she was able to learn a lot from them just by her interaction and observation of them.

I'll have to check the archives - my internet/e-mail has been up and down, but mostly down since Thursday of last week. That is most creepysome....

If you find out the secret to hyrdrangeas, let me know. I have about 10 hydrangea bushes in my yard and for a few years one of the bushes had bunches of multicolored flowers - blue, pink, yellow ... it was amazing. For the last few years, I'm lucky to get four pink flowers on that bush.... go figure..

Here's something that may help...
http://www.hydrangeashydrangeas.com/colorchange.html
This, from someone who differentiates flowers by primary colors...
e.g. What kind of flower is that?
me: Why...It's a red one, of course....

yes, I also have my suspicions. Ignoring is the only way to go. (isn't that what we'd tell our kids to do?)
