DS18 is in Chicago with his gf - he's not a drinker so that's not a concern other than if they're out around others who could get out of hand.

Geez- my BORING 16yo DD plans...yes PLANS to stay home with me! Last year her BF stayed over here, come to think of it, I think he stayed over the year before also:smileysurprised: His mom always gets hypocritically self-righteous about him spending the night when she dosen't have a boyfriend herself and I think she's on her own this year so probably won't be allowed, but thats what they would like. I always get a bottle of cheap champagne (WITH OTHER PARENT PERMISSION!) and the kids watch movies or play old-fashioned Board Games until midnight- then we go outside and blow whatever fireworks we have saved from July, then come in and crack the champagne. Oddly, in her groups of friends there has NEVER been even one kid that has had more than half a glass, they'll have a few sips and giggle about it, then bring it back and pour it in my glass or the sink! I have always talked to parents first though, because ya never know these days what med (ADD/HD, Bi-polar, etc.) a kid might be taking. Well, and up to now there haven't been any drivers. If anybody stops in while driving they WILL NOT be getting ANY champagne.

For many years, we have spent New Year's Eve with dear friends whose anniversary is that day.

Since my Ds is only 15 he really doesn't have anything planned except that he wants to go over his GF's house.

I feel for you! My last actual NYE Event was when youngest was 5 weeks old, NYE 1994/5.
I MUCH prefer staying home with the kids.
I'll think about maybe one more night out when the last one leaves the nest.

We haven't gone out on NYE in years and years... I get a little claustrophobic in a really crowded place, and it seems everywhere fits that bill on NYE.

Tonight we are going on a New Years Eve-Eve campout with the girl scouts (heated lodge, of course!)

Tomorrow, we will get together with 5-6 other families - all people that I went to college with almost 25 years ago.
We've been getting together on New Year's Eve for years.
