Ok, this is minor, BUT....

You know....I really suffer from anxiety about not falling into the 'perfect' mom category....I leave dishes in the sink, and toothpaste residue in the bathroom sink....sometimes for a few days.......there's fur balls from my pets wafting over my hardwoods (that desperately need to be refinished)....Hmmmm...everyone says you can't smell your 'own' smells.....does my house smell like Cat? There are some nights that I tell my family---fend for yourself for dinner--leftovers or Sandwiches!!
Ok you get the picture---....
I am an awesome cook, but mama doesn't bake. I baked fabulous cookies for my best friend's birthday and it took me nearly 4 HRS..........but again, they were FABULOUS.
We got a message from our perky football booster representative telling all of the parents to bring TWO DOZEN cookies for the boys after football camp on friday. Ok, no biggie.......then she said they needed to be HOMEMADE....she didn't suggest it, she didn't say if you have time, she didn't say if you like to bake.....she just said bring 2 dozen cookies.....HOMEMADE!!
H E double toothpicks no! Wal mart here I come. MAYBE I'll do break and bakes.......I work full time, and have 2 teen boys---I don't have time to worry about baking cookies..............brownies, maybe..........hey---can a brownie serve as a cookie? But they'd still be from a box............(insert underhanded snicker)....
End Rant,

Will you be my neighbor?
I always say my kids are allergy free because they were exposed to so much dust and pet dander throughout their lives!
Bring oranges and grapes and play the healthy snack card-then maybe you can make her feel as guilty as she made you feel
Huge hugs to you. We all have those weeks/months/years LOL. You do know that those moms probably have more problems than the rest of us "regular," not well kept and will never have fresh lemonade ready moms. I don't use my oven much in the summer - way to hot to heat up the house even more. I would really go with your "temptation," buy bakery cookies, and take them out of their packaging and onto a put them on a disposable plate. Good luck ;-)

Oh Wind.....yes, I'll be your neighbor! Thanks!
I've never been one to keep a great house.......it's not MOVING with debris or anything, but it certainly is not up to the standards of some of my son's friends' moms do....or at least want me to THINK they do.
I've been having a pity party for the last week and a half---so to have someone UNDERSTAND my attempt at humor and understand NOT being perfect makes me feel better!! You've made my day.

OMG ... that is brilliant!
It is SO brilliant, that I may just do it. Explain that with watching Big Brother 8 and all, I didn't have the spare TIME to bake, and the boys need to be healthy and hydrated after their long week of 3 hr evening practices.
OMG...I'm twisting my hands together with GLEE!
I'm so glad to hear that you got settled, and your new computer stuff is up and running. I go in spurts here...I know, I'm not very good at keeping up.....it's great to hear from you, and hope CO is still as great as it was when you first got there. How is W holding up? Is he ready for school, or is that touchy?

I may have said to this woman, I don't have time to bake right now, but if you would like to bring 4 doz. that would be cool.

LOL, Shels! To quote Elle Woods, "It's a completely brilliant plan". Love that movie.
Things are really working out here in CO. The house is still in a state of chaos (but you can tell where my priorities are, eh? Reading HP7 and on iVillage?) but coming together.
The kids are settling in well - W included. Last weekend, all the kids ended up here for a campout on our property. They pitched a huge tent on our property, dug a hole for a fire pit, built a really nice fire and 'camped' -- all night -- no sleeping until daybreak. I understand from C that W was the life of the party and had everyone howling with laughter. He is an incredibly funny guy; very quick witted and I think he is realizing that he is a very likeable kid and will be fine. So no, there don't seem to be any apprehensions about school at all ... so far.
Good luck with your 'baking'! I'm sure it will be fine, whatever you do.
Ok, I went to the local grocery last night which has a decent bakery (I'm not terribly fond of grocery store bakeries, but since we live in a small town, no independent bakeries), bought a dozen of their 'loose' cookies (like in the donut/bagel case)---M & M cookies, chocolate cookies, turtle cookies....etc.....and a brownie mix...I'll make a lovely try of these treats and take them in---my DH even baked the brownies, so my visons of 'no baking' came to pass!
Now that I'm over my tirade, I know how hard it must be to be the booster parent for our grade and try to wrangle unwilling folks like me---I realize she just probably wanted to do right for the football boys.
Props to all the people who volunteer and do everthing that I don't WANT to d.
