You know....I really suffer from anxiety about not falling into the 'perfect' mom category....I leave dishes in the sink, and toothpaste residue in the bathroom sink....sometimes for a few days.......there's fur balls from my pets wafting over my hardwoods (that desperately need to be refinished)....Hmmmm...everyone says you can't smell your 'own' smells.....does my house smell like Cat? There are some nights that I tell my family---fend for yourself for dinner--leftovers or Sandwiches!!

Ok you get the picture---....

I am an awesome cook, but mama doesn't bake. I baked fabulous cookies for my best friend's birthday and it took me nearly 4 HRS..........but again, they were FABULOUS.

We got a message from our perky football booster representative telling all of the parents to bring TWO DOZEN cookies for the boys after football camp on friday. Ok, no biggie.......then she said they needed to be HOMEMADE....she didn't suggest it, she didn't say if you have time, she didn't say if you like to bake.....she just said bring 2 dozen cookies.....HOMEMADE!!

H E double toothpicks no! Wal mart here I come. MAYBE I'll do break and bakes.......I work full time, and have 2 teen boys---I don't have time to worry about baking cookies..............brownies, maybe..........hey---can a brownie serve as a cookie? But they'd still be from a box............(insert underhanded snicker)....

End Rant,
Shels

I'm jumping in a little late here, but while I CAN bake a mean cookie, I HATE baking and really don't feel like it when I get home from work anyway.

The best part of my story is that after I went out yesterday and bought the "break and bake" cookie dough and baked them while I was making dinner, my daughter mentioned that she didn't have to bring in a treat after all since she was only a volunteer at the music camp, and not one of the actual campers. Aargh! You'd think she could have mentioned that when she handed me the letter stating what everyone needed to bring in. I don't know where her head is most days!

LOL.....okay, this is what you do. Find a good bakery in your town. Go there. Buy two dozen delicious 'homemade at the bakery' cookies. Take them home. Put them in one of your own containers and take to the perky lady who called you. Don't apologize, don't explain, just hand over the cookies. LOL... Seriously, in this day and age it is a bit ridiculous for someone to insist that you have HOMEMADE anything. If that's your thing and you like to make things that are homemade, great. But if you're like 75% of America, you just might not find you have the desire or the time. So buy them!!! If the cookies come from a good bakery, and they are delicious, who CARES who made them!!!
