They aren't offered thru the schools........there's a local sporting goods store that caters to the local high schools with their logos, specialized sporting gear--the YMCA soccer teams are required to go there to get their tshirts.......we live in a small community, and I know it's nice to have a central location that these items for purchase, but it's kind of a racket........one store for school related items?
Sounds typical costwise. Look at it this way. An ipod runs maybe 270, a playstation 3 runs up to 600 when you factor in accessories. Those UGG boots girls like are approx 200 I think if not more. So he could have spent the money on something that is not as good a souvenir of his accomplishments. He earned it!!
We gave Jaryd his lettermans jacket for his birthday in August. We actually ordered it at the end of August and he got it just when it started to get cold. It is blue with white leather around the shoulder and the sleeves are blue too. He has it JV letters on the front right, his name sewn on the front left and the back says bowling and tennis. When he gets his varsity letters, which I think he gets this year, they will go on the back. Of course it will cost me more to have the letters sewn on, but that should be the last thing to go on, unless he gets some kind of extra patch somewhere along the line.
His jacket wasn't as bad, it cost about $200 total letters and all. It was worth the money, he wears it to school all the time, it is well made ad warm and he is only a sophomore, so he can wear it a good long time.
We have to get ours from a locas sports store too. They have them at the school store too, but you pay the same amount and then have to take them to Sorentinos any way to get the letters, sports and name put on anyway.

Our booster club is paying half a million dollars towards a new stadium.
It's very controversial around here.
