My 13 year old ds got his report card this week.He is in grade 8 in a junior high.I was pleased with his report card,89.13% average, and all teachers had a positive comment. So that sounds great, however,he does less than 15 minutes of homework a night, averages less than an hour a week. How is it possible that a child in grade 8 would have so little homework?? I am not complaining, however,I think he needs to develop study habits now before it is too late.He did more homework in elementary than now.He did little last year as well, but most teachers reported that he needed to focus more on homework, but not one yet this year.Should I be concerned or just be happy that he is doing well???

I don't have any advice for you, just want you to know I am in the exact same predicament with my 8th grade DS. I wrote a note to his teachers today about it. It is frustrating because as long as their grades are OK, it seems like we shouldn't worry about it. But I'm sure my DS would get better grades if he worked a little harder, and I'd really like to see him develop some better study skills before he goes to high school next year.

Personally, I'd just be happy his grades are good!

I understand wishing they would develop good study habits, I know I wish mine had better ones.
