Roll Call!

It's been a long time since we've done a roll call here and with school starting up I figured it was a good time! Please take a minute to tell us a bit about yourself and your teen (as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing). This is a great time for the lurkers to come out, including those parents of 11-12 year olds that are sneaking a peek into what the coming years might bring! :smileysurprised:

And the bonus question is: When did/does school start for your kids?

I'm Pam from central IL, marred to dh for 28 years. Our boys are 21 and 24. Yes, I know neither one of them are teens but I found this board when my oldest ds was about 12 (yikes - half of his lifetime ago). I've been active here ever since and was cl here for several years until my 'baby' turned 20 when I decided to step down to give someone else a chance. This board is near and dear to my heart. Older ds graduated from college in 2010, took a gap year, and is now in his first year of medical school. Younger ds graduated high school in 2008, went off to college, kind of floundered (to put it mildly), moved back home and tried the local CC last year but still wasn't really applying himself. He now works full time at a local call center and says he'll go back to school some day but realizes it has to be when he's ready. Talk about two different kids coming from the same gene pool! I don't work outside the home although I have over the years. I do lots of volunteer work for our church, facilitate a women's study group there, I love to read and hang out on the computer. I'm a Facebook addict - no games, just connecting with people! DH is a division manager for a large Fortune 100 company in charge of IT security. That about sums up our family!

Jason started med school the last week of July - a week of orientation and he's now finishing up his 4th week of classes.

My now grown dds are ADDers, who also had issues with ODD, OCD, Visual Processing Disorder, depression and tics, and we all lived to tell the tale. Life has never been boring, I'll tell you that. Feel free to ask questions, if you want.

yes, life is never boring here either! my oldest has a visual processing thing, dysgraphia and written output disorder. makes school oh so much fun, not! he's awesome at math and chemistry though. he was also dx with odd at age 10, but that has improved a lot in the last year, he is almost 16 now.

my twins, one is better at math and the other is better at language arts, although that one is so affected by his adhd that he cant seem to get the work done. his mind is so creative, so I scribe for him a lot. one has/had ( it;s waning right now ) head shaking tic, the other a vocal tic and at one time they both had a vocal and motor tic simultaneously. they are 14 now and I have noticed that everything seems to have settled down quite a bit. I was told that puberty could either make things worse or things would improve. they are just entering puberty now and so far it seems things are relaxing for them.

thanks Sabrtooth

Divorced Mom of 2 boys, a 21 yr old who just started his Sr. yr of College today and an 18 yr old HS Graduate who is troubled and lost and causing me to age exponentially day after day right now!! He's lazy, not working, lying, and generally just rude and unhelpful around the house.
