Roll Call
25
Sun, 11-06-2011 - 3:59pm

It's been awhile since we've done a roll call. Regulars, newbies, and lurkers - take a minute to tell us as much or little about your teen, your family, etc. And the bonus question is - what's the weather like where you are these first days of November?

I'm Pam, married to dh for 28 years. We live in central IL. I don't actually have teens anymore but I was cl for this board for years and it's near and dear to my heart. My boys are 21 and 24 and I started lurking here when my oldest was about 12. Older ds is in his first year of med school up in the Chicago area. Younger ds tried college a few times (long story that many of you already know). At this point he's working full time and living at home. He's talking about going back to school in the fall - I think he's the type that's going to have to figure out what he really wants to do in life and if it involves further education he'll do fine. Older ds was the type that just loves learning for learning's sake, not so much younger ds.

With the exception of Thursday when it rained all day it's been beautiful here - in the 50's/60's, sunny and breezy. Kind of gloomy today but still not too cold.

Theresa in Chicago burbs. I have four kids: dd21, in her 5th year, finishing up at a small, liberal arts school, studying biology. She also works as a lab analyst part time. She was living at school for four years, but when her academic scholarship ended (due to the 4 years being up), she moved back home. So far, so good. Dd19 is at a big10-studying English and PoliSci, thinking about law school, but still not sure. Ds11 and ds9 are in 6th and 4th grade, respectively. Generally good kids- I haven't killed any of them yet. :) Dh and I were married 13 years this week. Dds' dad is deceased (we were long divorced) and dh has adopted them.

Everyone seems to be saying the weather is okay here, but I'm not buying it! It's not freezing, true, but it's been a rainy, gloomy mess. I'd rather have a crisp, snowy, sunny day.

Four lawyers in the family--well, that's convenient.

How fun! I've met a few Ivillage gals IRL but never as a group like that. There are several of us that live in the midwest from St. Louis to Southern WI and we sometimes talk about getting together. We just need to do it! And the $1000 question - how did your ds do home alone for the weekend? Was the house still standing??
