Dd has been asking to go to a school softball game since the season began. She doesn't do sports but, bless her heart, she wants to cheer for her team. After putting her off foevery, we went to an away game that was held in our county and we too our exhange student, K, with us. In the 2rd inning, she (k) got hit smack in the head with a fly ball!!!!!

OMG!

She has quite a bump on her head and the poor thing was just beside herself, but she is ok. We are waking her every two hours (she went straight to bed after we got home - the poor kid was completely traumatized) until midnight, but I'm quite sure she doesn't have a concussion - she never lost consciousness, she remembers everthing, pupils are fine, vision is fine...we are just being careful.

She hasn't lost her sense of humor, though. In the car on the way home she asked "why is it called SOFTball?"

The poor kid!

Say a prayer...

Oh my -- the poor girl! She's going to go back to Germany with quite a few good memories, isn't she? Well, memories at least. Post again in the am and let us know how she's feeling!

Just for your information. My daughter was hit in the head playing basketball. She never lost concensioness either but she suffered a concussion. The headaches and symptoms didn't com till the next day. So watch for any unusual behavior, such as moodiness or headaches. My daughter fully recovered but it took a few days. Noise really bothered her. I will say a prayer for her.

Well, we still have two weeks to pack in the happy memories! I kept her home from school today. She still has a headache, but she seems fine. I gave my doctor a call just to make sure I was watching for the right things and he seemed to think she should be fine pretty soon.

It is SO weird - there was a grand total of eight people in the stands - the school we were playing is out in the middle of nowhere - literally. How that softball found K's head with all that NOTHING around us, is a mystery to me....
