Saying goodbye...

Your last (or maybe your first) baby is heading off to college. As much as you disliked his dirty room or her tendency to leave the milk out, you’re going to miss them. If you’ve done the college good-bye already, what tips would you give other mom’s to make the transition as smooth as possible? Is there anything you wish someone had told you about leaving your child at college? If you’re sending away your first what will be the hardest part about saying goodbye? What can other parents do to make the good-bye easier?

My oldest daughter is a senior this year...even though we argue quite a bit (well i should say she argues quite a bit, LOL) and she can really drive me crazy I will miss her a lot. I'm sad just thinking that this is her last year at home and that after this she'll be an "adult". She is going to college in state but will live in the dorm (my choice) so that she can really feel independant and have to make her own choices and figure out how the real world works. But when I think about it I cry, so I can't imagine how I'll be by next summer!

This time next year my first born will be off at college somewhere....I am already having some difficulty with this! Each passing month and or holiday/birthday I am thinking, "this may be the last one of these we all spend together....or he won't be here next year for this"....and to make it worst his sister is seventeen months behind him. I do however have 5 more years before my "baby" will be off to college! If anyone can tell me how not to pull my hair out over this.... PLEASE I will welcome them!!

Thanks so much for your response. I found it very helpful. It is hard to let go, but it is worse if you try to hold on so tight they want to break away. Anyway, thanks for the advice and understanding
