Scary day with DD16

My DD was complaining yesterday of "not feeling well" - dizzy, hard to focus her eyes, shaky, and weird feeling heart rate. Today she seemed a bit better, so she took off to school. She and DH travel together on the subway, and halfway to school she started feeling worse, couldn't catch her breath, etc. Good thing she was with DH - he took her to the emergency room - and they spent all day there - 6 hours. They ran every test imaginable, and everything came out "unremarkable" and "within normal limits" - no heart, lung, blood, or organ abnormalities. WHEW!!
Obviously, "unremarkable" is good news. But there remains the question of how a healthy child has sudden symptoms. She's never sick, has never missed a day of school in at least 4 years, and rarely complains. DH is convinced it's the birth control pills she started last week (prescribed by her GYN to see if it got her period started again), so she quit that today. I wonder if it's stress related. And you all probably remember that I'm a little worried about her eating - some of these can be symptoms of an extremely low calorie diet. Doctor said it could be a virus, too. He gave her a pain/anti-inflammatory drug - I guess to see if it's just pain, like muscle pain. We're following up with her Pediatrician on Friday.
She seems better tonight, but says her chest still hurts. Guess we'll take it a day at a time.

Oh, Sue, that had to be scary for everyone involved.
That sounds so scary - thank goodness she was still with your dh.
Talk about scary!!! and not just for dd, y'all must have been so worried! I would bet on a panic attack, sure sounds like it, but getting things checked out by the drs is the very best thing. Hope she is feeling better and her dr. has some answers for you. Good luck, I will be thinking about and praying for you all!

Hi, there...hope your DD is okay and that it was just an isolated incident. My DD had something similar once, on a school field trip. A chaperone took her back to school, I picked her up and took her right to the dr. He said it was something called a vagal episode...also, those are all symtoms of anemia. This is a chronic problem for me. Oe time my vision was so bad, I went for glasses. After bloodwork and finding out my numbers were very low and taking iron supp. (ugh), of course I was all better and those glasses were a waste. P.S. Now I wear glasses for real. Also, could have been an anxiety attack. Someone doesn't neccesarily have to be feeling *anxious* to suffer from this.
Anyway, coincidentally, my DD's friend was here last night and she told me about her sister, 17, who passed out..yesterday, in fact...4th time in 2 years...and they find nothing wrong, they also say it may be the b.c. pills. I guess it would be hard to pinpoint unless you changed pills. And doing that too much can't be good.
Take care, it's always scary when something like that happens to our kids.
FWIW I get that when my blood sugar is down (and no, I have no official 'condition') - how about her carrying a granola bar or something like that for a while just in case?
