My DD (14) was recently diagnosed with major depression and social anxiety.

It is the law here and very strictly followed. The teachers would be fired.

I would say most assuredly tell. If she has an anxiety attack in school they won’t know what’s wrong. I would ask the principal if there is a confidentiality clause in place. I know the school I worked in had one in place.


I think they and you would rather someone know what is going on with your child if and when something happens. It would be beneficial to them and your daughter if they knew what exactly to do and what to watch out for. Major Depression is not something to take lightly and the school should know about it! You send your daughter to school and they are responsible for her well being. They could be your first line of defense if something is going on with your daughter. After all that is where she spends the majority of her day!

i know the law. i live in canada. my school just didn't really care, or the right people didn't find out.

We don't fire teachers here in the U.S.A.
