well, my dawdler is NOT reformed, but I've kinda learned to live with it as best I can. And, he is much better than he used to be.
What does your ds do for fun (other than pick on his sister, LOL)? There's got to be *some*thing. Hang out with his friends, go to the mall? He can't possible hang out at the house all weekend, every weekend and not watch TV or play video games, talk on the phone, or something. Maybe taking some of those things away from him might bother him more than he lets on. If you completely "unplug" him, something is bound to hit a nerve. Even if its the radio. Sorry, but I'm a big fan of not nagging about chores, with the exception of taking out the trash. That has to be done. I don't care how long it takes to do something, as long as it's done. However, he doesn't get to do *any*thing else until it's done. My kid is such a social butterfly, that to cut him off from his friends is a fate worse than death, so that helps.
He's 14, have you tried sitting down and talking to him about it? Seriously? What are his issues about not doing chores? What happens to the family when chores aren't done? What if you took your time doing your chores? Does he think that would bother him? Of course, his answer will be no. He might change his tune when you quit doing things for him. Making them wash their own clothes is a biggie in my house. :)
