At one of my jobs I worked with a pastor and his caseworker wife. Nicest folks you'd ever want to meet. Their son was about 20 at the time, going to college in Austin.
One afternoon she answered the phone and someone asked to speak to Father C. He came to the phone and a man proceeded to tell him he was with the Austin police department and that their son had been killed in a traffic accident, and that someone would need to drive to Austin to identify the body.
So Father C takes off on the 5 hour trip. He's abut 3 hours into it when his wife decides to call her son's employer and try to find out some info. The confused employee on the other end of the line tells her he doesn't know what she's talking about, "but your son is standing right here," and hands him the phone.
For the life of me, I can't imagine someone playing games like that. That poor woman was so upset and cried for days.
