All summer he has been talking about how he couldn't wait to turn 16 so he could work at Old Navy.

Congrats to your ds! Getting that first job can be tough, especially in this economy!

Congratulation to him and you.

I think learning to work is only slightly less important than many school classes in HS.

One of the Woody Allen quotes is, "90% of life is showing up."

Great that he got another job, conmama! Will he quit the Y or will he work both both jobs? LOL I had to google natatorium to see what it meant - our school doesn't have a swim team/pool although some of the local kids go into Peoria where a couple schools have swim teams.

Wow - ds just quit lifeguarding at a fancy community center here at $8/hour (started at $7) after 3 years...they pay well where you are! His new job is at $10 and he's ecstatic (not guarding). They only let him work 5-10 hours/week during the school year guarding, too, but it was enough to cover gas and incidentals.

And congrats to musiclover's ds!
